Hi Senza i’m Santiago Montoya, an artist from Medellín, Colombia and this is the third installment in a
series of “experiments”—bold, thought-provoking explorations of what our future might look like, shaped
by current and emerging technological and sociocultural shifts. Through engaging editorials and
imaginative yet plausible narratives, we share our vision of tomorrow, along with the ethical and societal
dilemmas it may bring.
From the revolutionary potential of CRISPR-Cas9 in human genetic modification to the possibility of
engineering life for survival in extreme environments, the future excites us. Yet, we cannot ignore the
profound ethical, moral, and religious challenges these advancements will inevitably provoke.
This editorial captures a pivotal moment: “her capture”. Overexposed and piercing lights from the search
teams contrast with cold, deliberate shadows—evoking the faded portraits or paintings that stubbornly
cling to the walls of our grandmothers’ homes—illustrating the tension between the artificial and the
organic, creation and control. (The metaphor of a digitally printed painting, worn down by the organic
passage of time, feels deeply comforting to my mind. It reminds me of the hallways in my grandmother’s
house, where she refuses to replace them purely for their sentimental value.)
We combined multiple techniques to achieve this vision: prosthetic enhancements,
a functional suit blending technology with fashion, designed by Kevin Zuluaga Ospina for Kevino. This
handcrafted, one-piece suit features built-in passive exercise technology, creating a futuristic and
functional garment for individuals passionate about fitness; and a small exploration of virtual garments
with a CGI shoes created by Kevino too and rendered by myself. This is the final
scene of a “film” that portrays the pursuit of a part of humanity striving to keep its secrets—a
confrontation between art and morality.
